Autodesk inventor 3d printing10/22/2023 ![]() ![]() A little Inventor surface work was done and while it took more than the 5 minutes I wanted to spend, it resulted in a great surfaces geometry article. The old fitting did not have enough throughput on the oil volume so larger fittings had to be introduced.Īside from the larger fitting result, was getting the surfaces to match up without counter-boring the sealing faces into the model. Then I used those features to redesign the Oil Port Channel at 45° which was really needed to install the fitting. I finally got some models and Manufacturer dimensions that helped me build the actual fittings I wanted to test. This is another reason I am promoting GrabCAD, so we can put decent content out there for everyone. The first reason is that no good 3D CAD fittings were available online. While there was room for them in the design, getting them installed was a nightmare. Oil Fittings (Red)ĭue to the scale of the design, there were tremendous problems with the Oil Fittings. This turned into a feasibility study that has taken more time that I desired, but has resulted in a few good articles that are coming soon. While I did that I noticed a few things that needed attention. Modifications while working in 3D Print affect only the printed part not the model. For the last week I’ve been popping in and out of this design as I prep it for 3D printing. ![]() Many of the standard Part modeling tools and Sketch tools are available while in the 3D Print environment so that the print model can be modified. Partitions can be nested in the same printer build space or exported for use in a different print session. ![]() You can: change the orientation and position of the component, modify the component for printing, and partition the component. Upon entering the 3D Print Environment the model is oriented with the Z axis pointing upward. For features you do not want printed, change the visibility state or suppress the feature if doing so does not affect other features. The 3D Print is based on component and feature visibility. To print an assembly use the same method that was used previously, that is, save the assembly as an STL file and send the file to a printer or print service provider. This environment is available only in the Part document. You can print models whole or in-part based on the 3D printer in use. The 3D Print Environment provides tools for additive manufacturing. Position and prepare the model for 3D printing. ![]()
